Abstract

A novel series of monomeric and generally volatile polymetallic isopropoxides of the types [Al(O-i-Pr)4]M[Ga(O-i-Pr)4], [M'(O-i-Pr)4]M[Zr2(O-i-Pr)9], [M"(O-i-Pr)6]M[Zr2(O-i-Pr)9], [M'(O-i-Pr)4]M[M"(O-i-pr)6], [Al(O-i-Pr)4]Fe[Zr2(O-i-Pr)9], [[Al(O-i-Pr)4]Fe[Zr2(O-i-Pr)9]2], [FeCl[Al(O-i-Pr)4][Zr2(O-i-Pr)9]] and [Fe[Al(O-i-Pr)4][Zr2(O-i-Pr)9][M"(O-i-Pr)6]] [where M = Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II); M' = Al(III) or Ga(III); M"= Nb(V) or Ta(V)] has been synthesized by the reaction of bi- or tri-metallic chloride isopropoxides with a potassium isopropoxy-metallate derivative in an appropriate molar ratio. All these complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic, magnetic and molecular weight measurements.
