Abstract
A bimetallic-μ-oxo-alkoxide with the chemical composition CaO2Al2(OPri)4 has been synthesised by thermal condensation of calcium acetate and aluminium isopropoxide in molar ratio 1:2 in decalin solution. This derivative has been characterised by elemental analysis, molecular weight measurements as well as IR and 1H NMR spectral measurements and a plausible structure is suggested. The hydrolysis, alcoholysis and some representative chemical reactions of this bimetallic-μ-oxo-alkoxide has revealed interesting facets in corroboration of the suggested structure.
