Abstract

Reactions of alkanolamines [R1R2NXOH;R1 = H, CH3, C2H5, C4Ht9, C6H5; R2 = H; CH3, C2H5 and X = -CH2CH2-, -CH2CH2CH2-, -CH2CHCH3, -C6H4CH2 CH2-, -CH2CH2SCH2CH2-] with ethyl borate in different molar ratios (1 to 3) yield the trisproduct only. All the derivatives are distillable liquids, soluble in common organic solvents and susceptible to hydrolysis even by atmospheric moisture. The new derivatives are characterized by elemental analyses, I.R. 1H NMR spectra, refractive indices and molecular weight measurements.
