Abstract
Lanthanon compounds containing M---O---Si bonds have been prepared by the reactions between lanthanon isopropoxides and trimethylsilylacetate in different molar ratios in refluxing cyclohexane (M=Gd or Er). The mono- or di-isopropoxy silyloxides interchange their isopropoxy groups with tertiary butoxy groups on alcoholysis. Molecular weights and i.r. spectra studies indicate that they are polymeric.
