Abstract

1. 1. Levels of FDP aldolase activity in the particulate free extracts of skeletal muscle, brain, heart, kidney, testis, liver, spleen, and lung of the mouse, cotton rat, and monkey have been compared. 2. 2. The enzyme from different tissues was resolved by vertical starch-gel electrophoresis. The activity of the enzyme in the skeletal muscle of the three animal species was found localized as i band, whereas the enzymes of brain and testis of the three animals showed the presence of 5 and 2 bands of activity respectively. Aldolase of the mouse heart separated into a bands and that of the monkey into 4 bands. The aldolase of kidney and liver of the cotton rat separated into a bands of which one moved towards the anode and the other towards the cathode.
