Abstract

The method of Goldstein [1], Bogue [2] and Schiller [3] has been extended to discuss the two dimensional flow of both pseudoplastic and dilatant fluids in the inlet length of a straight channel. The pressure drop has been obtained and compared with that obtained from kinetic energy end-correction. Analytical expressions have been obtained for the inlet length and the boundary layer thickness. For certain values of the flow behaviour index, all the results have been illustrated by graphs.
