Abstract

The density of states function for a semiconductor superlattice under the influence of a quantizing magnetic field in the superlattice direction has been worked out. The density of states function in the absence of a magnetic field has also been obtained for comparison. Computations for a GaAs-AIAs superlattice have been made, and the results show that several features may be expected in a superlattice subjected to a quantizing field. It has been suggested that a quantizing field would be a powerful tool in investigations of superlattice properties and device potentialities.
