Abstract

Some conditions have been derived from which it appears that in multiple development the distance of separation between two spots on strip and circular chrormatograms should increase or decrease according as the sum of their RF values is less than or greater than unity. When the sum equals unity, there should be no change. Experimental evidence has been put forward in support of the above generalizations. The deviations of the theoretical from the experimental values are largely due to the changes in RF values in successive developments.
