Abstract

We discuss a class of exact one dimensional solutions for modulated light pulses coupled to electron plasma waves in a relativistic cold plasma and which are of great interest from the point of view of particle and photon accelerators. Numerical results are presented for isolated envelope solitons propagating close to the velocity of light and the nonlinear relationship between their group velocity, amplitude and frequency are investigated.
