Abstract

In this paper, the author has analytically investigated the ansiotropy in the ac conductivity of a slightly ionized plasma, induced by the presence of a strong steady electric field. It is shown that for very strong steady fields, the anisotropy is independent of the field strength, its magnitude being solely governed by the dependence of electron-collision frequency on electron velocity; for moderate fields, on the other hand, the anisotropy is a function of the field strength.
