Abstract

The unusual tetranuclear cluster [(μ-BuSe)Fe2(CO)6]24-Se) (1) has been obtained from the reaction of a monoanion, derived from Fe2(μ-Se2)(CO)6 and n-BuLi, with 1,3-dibromopropane. Compound 1 has been characterized by IR and 1H, 13C, and 77Se NMR spectroscopy. It has been structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The structure consists of two [(μ-BuSe)Fe2(CO)6] units bridged by a pseudotetrahedral Se atom.
