Abstract

At room temperature, Fe2(CO)6(μ-Se2) reacts with Ru3(CO)12 to form Fe2Ru3(CO) 17( (μ4-Se)(μ3-Se), and with Ru(CO)4(C2H2) to form Fe2Ru(CO)93-Se)2. The latter reacts with Fe(CO)5 under visible light irradiation to give Fe3Ru(CO)114-Se)2, and with Ru(CO)4(C2H4) to form Fe2Ru2(CO)114-Se)2. Visible light irradiation of a solution containing Fe3(CO)93-Se)2 and Fe(CO)5 yields Fe4(CO)114-Se)2. A solution containing Fe3(CO)93-Se)2 and Ru(CO)4(C2H4) at room temperature with stirring yielded Fe3Ru(CO)114-Se)2.
