Abstract

We report here experimental investigations on Ce3Cu3Sb4 and Gd3Cu3Sb4 which are members of a new series reported by us. Ce3Cu3Sb4 is found to be a semiconducting ferromagnet with Tm = 10K and hence unique as no other Ce-based system exhibits these properties. The isostructural Gd3Cu3Sb4 is a metallic antiferromagnet with TN = 12K. The ferromagnetic ordering temperature Tm of Ce3Cu3Sb4 is rather high and could be due to p-f hybridization.
