Abstract

Cesium-gold alloys show a large contraction in volume when the Cs atomic percent is around 50%. Other experimental evidence also shows that this alloy forms a compound at about this composition. Hence three typical concentrations of the alloy around 50 at% of Cs are treated as an ionic melt. The partial structure factors SCs-Cs(k), SAu-Au(k), and SCs-Au(k) and also the total structure factor are calculated. It is gratifying to note that the computed total structure factor agrees very well with experiment.
