Abstract

Liquid alkaline-earth metals are treated as a system of Coulombically interacting charged hard spheres in the background of conduction electrons. The structure factor is evaluated on the basis of the linear-screening-optimization approximation by considering the weak coupling of the valence electrons to ions. The dielectric function of Vashishta and Singwi is used, with consideration of the electron correlation in metals.
