Abstract

Boric acid efficiently catalyzes the conjugate addition of aliphatic amines to αβ-unsaturated compounds to produce β-amino compounds, with great alacrity and excellent yields, in water under mild conditions. Aromatic amines do not participate effectively in the reaction.
