Abstract

The paper employs the asymptotic theory of Fokker-Planck equations to obtain properties such as the mean passage time to move from one state to another. Two examples of interest to chemical engineers, viz. (1) an autocatalytic reaction and (2) a chemical oscillator, have been analysed. The implications of the results obtained are discussed.
