Abstract
The biosynthesis of crotsparine, crotsparinine and sparsiflorine in Croton sparsiflorus has been studied using racemic [Ar-3H]-coclaurine, isococlaurine and norcoclaurine. Tyrosine and coclaurine are shown to be precursors of all three alkaloids.
