Abstract

The influence of surface heterogeneity in determining selectivity behavior is analyzed for a simple reaction scheme. Surface heterogeneity is quantified by employing three well known site energy distributions, viz. positive exponential, negative exponential and constant distributions. A characteristic pressure is defined such that by operating at this pressure the desired selectivity can be obtained and suitable mathematical techniques involving Mellin transforms are employed for its determination. The values of characteristic pressure can be different by a factor of 10 and reflect the nature of the site-energy distribution.
