Abstract

The present study, which for the most part is predominantly experimental, provides quantitative information on (1) drag coefficients for isolated gas bubbles moving in the low and high Reynolds number region (2) bubble shapes and (3) velocity transition and discontinuity in non-Newtonian media. In all the cases, equations with predictive ability (which were hitherto lacking) are provided with attendant discussion of the underlying physical phenomena.
