Abstract

The splitting up of nuclear resonance lines due to J-coupling has been dealt with in detail for both the cases J ∼ δ and J <<δ It is shown that for J ∼δ, appreciable departures occur from Gutowsky's rule in both the intensities and frequencies of the components, particularly the former. The exact line-patterns in several important cases are given.
