Abstract

Apanteles flavipes( Cameron) is the dominant and most widely distributed parasite of Chilo zonellus( Swinhoe) in India( Subba Rao, Sharma and Saxena, 1967). Some studies o its biology and bionomics as a parasite of the sugarcane borers were made at Pusa(Bihar) by Mohammad ALi and Prasad (1958). Moutia and Courtois (1952) made detailed studies on it as a parasite of Proceras saccahariphagus( Bojer), a sugarcane borer in Mauritius, while Kurian (1955) made some observations on it as a parasite of C.zonellus at Coimbatore. A detailed list of the recorded hosts of A.flavipes has been given by Sharma, Saxena and Subba Rao.
