Abstract

Four novel cationic lipids with oligo-oxyethylene units at various linkage regions between the pseudoglyceryl backbone and the hydrocarbon chains have been synthesized. The membrane-forming properties of these new lipids are briefly presented. Some novel cationic lipids having hydrophilic oxyethylene units at the linker region have been synthesized to understand the effects of hydration at the lipid linkages in model membranes.
