Abstract

The title complex has been prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography, magnetochemistry, cyclic voltammetry and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The complex contains a [Mn43-O)2]8+ core with bridging EtCO2- and chelating bpya groups. The magnetochemical studies indicate an S=0 ground state as a result of antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between the MnIII ions. The 1H NMR spectra support retention of the solid-state structure on dissolution in MeCN.
