Abstract

We have synthesized and characterized polypyrrole/sodium nitrate (PPY/NaNO3) membranes that can be used as substrate to support human endothelial cell proliferation. Furthermore, the mechanism of electrical transport in this system is examined in the temperature range 13-300 K before it could be used as a substrate for human endothelial cell growth. The polymer membrane reported here is biocompatible in nature and therefore, it is envisaged to be highly useful for the growth and development of bioartificial organs. This has a great potential in the context of medical biotechnology.
