Abstract

The cluster Ru3(CO)12 reacts with 1,2-O-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose (H2L) or 1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose to give Ru3(CO)8(L), a chiral cluster with a carbohydrate ligand. The structure has been established by a single crystal X-ray diffraction study.
