Abstract

The phase equilibrium data are presented for methyl esters-furfural-hexane and methyl esters-nitromethane-hexane at 30°C. The hydroxyl values of ester samples obtained from the furfural and nitromethane phases indicate that furfural and nitromethane can be used as solvents for fractionating hydroxy esters from the mixed esters obtained by the methanolysis of castor oil.
