Abstract

Dissociative ionization of H2 by low-energy monoenergetic electrons has been studied in a crossed electron-beam/molecular-beam apparatus incorporating a quadrupole mass spectrometer with a view to examining the influence, if any, of the quadrupole RF fields on neutral Rydberg species, the associated physical mechanisms and their effect on H+ kinetic-energy distribution functions.
