Abstract

A population balance equation for kinetics of granulation in the ball growth region by non-random coalescence mechanism has been proposed. It is shown that the granule-size spectra eventually acquire a self-preserving form and the rate of growth of the median granule dia. obeys a power function law. These results are in agreement with experimental balling data for fine comminuted powders.
