Abstract

Earlier calculations of fission fragment anisotropies made with the use of the standard saddle point statistical model have been corrected to include the effects of prefission neutron emission. These calculations are compared with the data reported earlier for the fissioning systems formed by projectile-target combinations of 10B, 12C, 16O, and 19F on 232Th and 237Np and 9Be on 232Th. It is seen that for these systems the conclusions reached earlier regarding the entrance channel dependence of the fission fragment anisotropy as a function of mass (charge) asymmetry are not affected by the inclusion of corrections due to prefission neutron emission.
