Abstract

Short term variations of electrical potential gradient (sometimes called 'agitation') have been studied during fair and disturbed weather and on days with and without wind. The magnitude and 'frequency' of the ‘agitation’ are found to depend on the mean value of the potential gradient. The ‘agitation’ is attributed to changes in the space charge caused by the electrode effect in fair weather and the aerosol content in disturbed weather.
