Abstract

Highly textured La0.7MnO3-δ films were grown on LaAlO3 <100> substrates for the first time. The films showed a metal-insulator transition at 220 K and exhibited giant magnetoresistance with ΔR/R0 = 85% and ΔR/RH > 550%. This study demonstrates that the La1-xMnO3-δ films are unique among the other La1-xMxMnO3 (M = Ca, Ba, and Pb) thin films showing giant magnetoresistance by virtue of being a self-doped system.
