Abstract

The cross sections for the electron loss from hydrogen atoms colliding with molecular targets H2, N2 and O2 have been calculated using the free collision model of Dmitriev and Nikolaev. The molecules have been treated under the separated atom approximation and the phase difference between the electrons scattered from the two atoms of the molecule is considered. The vibrational motion of the molecule is also accounted for. The results are compared with other calculations and experimental data.
