Abstract

Explicit formulas are obtained for the Debye characteristic temperature of orthorhombic crystals by an extension of Houston's method of expanding the integrand involved in terms of appropriate harmonic polynomials. T(elastic) values have been computed for twelve crystals and the results are discussed.
