Abstract
The commercially available (−)-Shikimic acid is used to construct the fully functionalised cyclohexane frame (C-ring) of (+)-Resiniferatoxin. The key reactions involve stereo-selective epoxide opening with trimethylaluminium and vinyl Grignard reaction.
