Abstract
In order to achieve a total synthesis of amphotericin B, a clinically used antifungal agent from Streptomyces nodosus, and its aglycon amphoteronolide B, the required building blocks (IV), (VIII), (XIV) and (XVII) are prepared as shown in the scheme.
