Abstract

A new approach has been used to measure the electrical parameters of the stratosphere. In this, two spherical probes were simultaneously flown onboard a balloon. One measured the total density and the other gave the conductivity of ions. Combining the results of the two, the value of mobility has been derived. The values of ion density, conductivity and mobility are given in the altitude range of 20 to 30 km.
