Abstract

It is shown that the diffraction efficiency of bleached photographic holograms depends very much on the drying procedure. With a conventional bleach, a considerable increase in diffraction is obtained if an alcohol bath is used prior to drying. However, with a reversal bleach, the same procedure results in a serious loss in diffraction efficiency. The processes responsible for these changes are identified and discussed.
