Abstract

We report that aniline could be intercalated into the layered perovskites, HCa2Nb3O10 and HCa2Nb2MO9 (M --- Al, Fe), and subsequently polymerized by treatment with (NH4)2S2O8, to give novel PANI-layered perovskite composites (PANI = polyaniline). Characterization of these organic/inorganic composites by various physical methods shows that the polymer exists within the galleries of the host in the emeraldine salt form with considerable cross-linking.
