Abstract

Claisen-Schmidt condensation (CSC) is one of the most widely used methods for carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions, many of which lead to biologically and pharmacologically active compounds. The current review aims to give a proper perspective and potential of CSC reactions. The importance of heterogeneous base, acid, acid-base and organocatalysis and different types of support is brought out and future scope delineated.
