Abstract

A solvent adaptive nanoscale MOF (NMOF) with dynamic morphology was devised based on an asymmetric bola-amphiphilic oligo-(p-phenyleneethynylene) (OPE) dicarboxylate linker. The emissive and non-toxic NMOF is cell permeable and allowed live-cell imaging. Cisplatin (14.4 wt %) and doxorubicin (4.1 wt %) were encapsulated in the polar cavity of the NMOF and delivered to HeLa cells with micromolar cytotoxicity.
