Abstract

A piezosensitive bola-amphiphile: Although piezosensitive compounds are of utmost importance for specific applications, the understanding of their mechanism is still elusive. In this work, a bola-amphiphile C5-PPB with weak interactions that can respond to pressure was synthesized. Moreover, it shows a unique compression-dependent phase change and the different phases have been discerned, providing insights into the piezo-response mechanism. Under mechanical pressure, C5-PPB also exhibits reversible mechanochromism, with its emission changing from green to cyan and back, with a 15 nm shift in the emission maximum.
