Abstract

We have measured the field cooled coercivity for different cooling fields at different temperatures in La1−xSrxCoO3 (for x=0.15, 0.3, 0.4). The field cooled coercivity varies linearly with the cooling field. The slope of these linear curves varies exponentially with temperature (∼exp−αT). The value of α decreases slowly with increasing x in the region 0.2<x≤0.5. It increases suddenly to 0.11 for x=0.15. We suggest that α can be related to the volume fraction of superparamagnetic clusters. A comparison has been made with the zero field cooled coercivity of amorphous Fe–Zr.
