Abstract

We have performed ellipsometric measurements of the infrared dielectric response of RuSr2GdCu2O8 polycrystalline ceramics. The transformation of the Cu–O bending phonon mode at 288cm−1 in the normal state to a broad absorption band at in the superconducting state has been observed. This observation strikingly resembles the c-axis optical conductivity data reported for the YBa2Cu3O6.45 crystals. The anomalous softening of the Ru-related phonon mode at 190 cm−1 has been observed on decreasing temperature below the magnetic TM=133 K transition temperature.
