Abstract

Measurements are reported of the polarization and asymmetry produced in the elastic and inelastic scattering of 50 MeV protons by 24Mg, 64Zn and 68Zn. Results cover the angular range 10°:-145°: (lab). The inelastic scattering is to the first excited state. The results for 24Mg and 64Zn together with differential cross-section data have been analysed using the simple optical model. The best fits were obtained for a spin-orbit potential of smaller radius than the real central potential.
