Abstract
In this paper we study the nature of singularity of the first eigenfunction of the Hardy–Sobolev operator, Lu≔− Δ u− n− 2 2 2 q (x) u| x| 2 defined on H 0 1 (Ω), where Ω is a bounded domain in R n, n⩾ 3 and q (x)= 1− C/(log R/| x|) δ in a neighbourhood of the origin.
