Abstract

Some tri-, di- and monoorganosilicon(IV) complexes of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone have been synthesized by the reactions of the corresponding tri-, di- and monoorganosilicon(IV) chlorides with the sodium salt of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone in different stoichiometric ratios. The compounds are yellow coloured solids, soluble in common organic solvents and are monomeric in CHCI3 solution. These derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weights, conductivity measurements and spectral (IR, Ή, 13C and ^Si NMR) studies. The complexation occurs via the thiol sulfur, and the imino nitrogen atom.
