Abstract

Mixed N-(salicylidene)-o-mercaptoaniline alkyldithiocarbonate derivatives of antimony(III) have been synthesized by substitution reactions of chlorobis[N-(salicylidene)-o-mercaptoaniline]antimony(III), Sb[SC6H4N=C(H)C6H4OH]2Cl. dichloro[N-(salicylidene)-o-mercaptoaniline]antimony(III), Sb[SC6H4N=C(H)-C6H4O]Cl2 and monochloro[N-(salicylidene)-o-mercaptoaniline]antimony(III). Sb[SC6H4N=C(H)C6H4O]CI with potassium alkyl xanthates in benzene/carbon disulfide in 1:1, 1:2 and 1:1 molar ratios, respectively The yellow or orange crystalline complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, melting points, molecular weight determinations as well as IR and NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy mixed-ligand dialkyl dithiophosphates and dialkyl dithiocarbamates5 of antimony(Ill) it was thought of interest to synthesise a number of new mixed-ligand alkyl dithiocarbonate derivatives of antimony(llI) and characterize them by various analytical techniques
