Abstract

Ribbons of Metglas® 2826 MB were tested for their wear, creep and stress relaxation properties in magnetic and non-magnetic environments. The internal stress was lower, by a very small amount, in a magnetic field while the creep rate in a magnetic environment increased over that in a nonmagnetic environment. The wear of Metglas when rubbed against ferromagnetic material was enhanced marginally in a magnetic environment. With mild steel, enhancement was slightly more than with brass.
