Abstract

We report Tc measurements on Cu2Mo6S8 disordered by shock pressure. The shock is induced by the absorption of a laser pulse. A depression in Tc of up to 0.45 K is observed, while the width of the transition is broadened from 0.42 to 0.66 K. Our results are compared with earlier results of Stewart, Olinger, and Newkirk on shock-damaged V3Si, and also with the earlier results on particle irradiation of Chevrel-phase superconductors.
